Those who have chosen Delphi for their base should make sure they spend some time in Chrisso village. It is located near the famous destination (6 Km to the west) at the foot of Mount Parnassos and above the olive groves of Amfissa (between Itea and Amfissa). It will give you a true sense of tradition.
This preserved village with its renovated houses is characterized by its picturesque main square with the tree, traditional stone churches (the most characteristic of which is Agios Giorgios, surrounded by the walls of Ancient Chrisas) the authentic Greek cafes (try the Byzantino cafe in the new marketplace, tel. +30 22650 83141) and the fresh meat served in taverns.
As you walk through the narrow alleys, visit the historic Fourla tavern (running for about 55 years, tel, +30 22650 82908) with its large veranda and uninterrupted views of Itea and Galaxidi. It is known for its 'kreatolihoudies' made from fresh meat, served on a daily basis.
