Bartesera, a pun derived from the words bar (for obvious reasons), art (for its artistic character), tesera (for its four owners) and sera (for the patio –Italian word– between its two closed spaces) is located in Praxitelous arcade on Kolokotroni Street, in Athens, and is one of those all-day hangouts in every sense of the word!
In its highly renewed interior, which oozes intimacy and warmth and is often reminiscent of our home, warmer colours dominate and its atmosphere "embraces" you immediately. Its urban exotica aesthetic philosophy with vintage references blends perfectly with the whole environment, where your coffee, drink or wine with friends has found now its own classic hangout.
Undisputed protagonist of the space is the urban exotica courtyard filled with lush green plants under the patio, which along with the ambient lighting at night –for the summer nights the bar is transferred outside– becomes a meeting point for those who love the centre, with "black" influenced music –soul, funk, Africa– and some electronic sounds "spicing up" the place.
With industrial aesthetics and urban character, Bartesera is open from morning serving your first coffee of the day. Its menu features also tasty snacks (pizza, sandwich, club sandwich, salads and pastries) prepared in the kitchen with selected and unique raw ingredients regularly renewed –kaseri cheese from Xanthi, pastrami, graviera cheese from Crete–, all from small producers of Greece.
The special emphasis on Greek products is evident throughout its menu, as it consists of Greek beers, organic wine and a small wine list with selected labels from the Greek vineyard, as well as Greek spirits.
The bar features premium labels in whiskey, vodka, rum and gin, while its highly interesting and show-stopper cocktail list, bearing the signature of Alexandros Dontas, consists of signature choices, as well as classic, slightly modified, ones based on the spirit.
