Duck Soup
Duck Soup

With a beautiful lush green courtyard- a true oasis (the first thing that will surely attract your interest) and an amazing interior, Duck Soup in Pesmatzoglou arcade (opposite the Library and a few steps from Panepistimio Metro Station) will become your reference point every time you visit the centre of Athens. It is a highly sophisticated space, reminiscent of a tasteful bistro in Paris.

Duck Soup places great emphasis on coffee and sandwiches, the quality of products being the key in the selection of raw ingredients. You will find it out yourself as soon as you see the ingredients used for the preparation of your order.

It should be worth mentioning at this point that Duck Soup features an open kitchen allowing you to see the entire preparation of your order, a retro refrigerator where all raw ingredients are kept to be cut as soon as you choose the sandwich of your liking. Note that everything here is handmade, from the pesto and honey vinaigrette sauce (Katerina cuts the herbs herself and prepares the marinades) to the biscuits served with coffee!

When it comes to sandwiches, the fresh buns arrive daily from a cooperating bakery –white and brown Campagne bread, brown and white ciabatta, French baguette, ciabatta with three different flours, whole-wheat or white rustic loaf– and are harmoniously combined with different ingredients, creating unique tasty combinations.

Pastrami from Drama, smoked pork from Karditsa, dry anthotyro cheese from Crete, aged Gruyere from Crete, authentic Parmesan cheese, Italian bresaola (from tender beef fillet), Spanish jamon and chorizo salami, brie cheese, Scottish salmon etc. are some of the raw ingredients in the showcase of Duck Soup and its menu.

The bruschettas are also quite popular, made with a baked slice of rustic loaf with different ingredients on top, as well as the tortillas, which are divided into two categories: Indian with tandoori chicken and Mexican or otherwise vegetarian as they call it and, finally, the fresh salads, which are an excellent choice for a light lunch break.

Those with a sweet tooth will also be satisfied as Katerina and Spyros have been appropriately prepared. High-quality and top raw ingredients will surely tempt you. The amazing croissant with yeast is a best-seller, followed by the Caribbean cake (with Valrhona chocolate and Madagascar vanilla), the lemon pie (with a crispy base with nuts) and the cherry cheesecake.

It serves high quality Taf coffee, a large variety of aromatic teas and Greek herbs (mountain tea, verbena, mint), rejuvenating juices from fresh fruits or sugar-free fruit purees in various combinations, like green apple, lime, lemon, ginger, and hearty smoothies in various original flavours. The fact that it features an updated list of beers (Greek and foreign) and some selected wines (glass and bottle) is a plus.
