The all day cafe-restaurant Estabar opened in December 2017 at Korai square in Piraeus, in the same spot where the historic-political haunt En Peiraiei used to be.
The new Piraeus’ haunt name derives from the combination of the words Espresso-Tapas-Bar. It opens in the morning to serve aromatic coffee and filling brunch on a daily basis (08.00-13.00). It also has a separate menu list for lunch or dinner with inspired Mediterranean cuisine suggestions with a twist, which are prepared using selected Greek products and signed by chef Manolis Thiveros.
If you come here for brunch, you should definitely order the “skafto” (hollow bread with egg, San Michalis cheese and siglino) as well the huevos rancheros (eggs with hot red sauce).
You can also visit Estabar for a lunch break or a delightful dinner with enticing dishes. From the appetizers you should sample the Mastelo cheese (covered with dried nuts and strawberry jam with chili) and the “cigarillos” (filled with minced meat, crab and pepper sauce). The salads that stand out are the Greek style Ceasar’s salad (with chicken drumstick, nouboulo sausage from Corfu, Parmesan flakes, croutons and corn) and the mixed salad (with San Michalis cheese, slices of citrus fruits and macadamia nuts inside a nest made from phyllo pastry).
The fine menu is completed with various pasta dishes and an updated range of main courses. Among the dishes that stand out are the “trachanoto” (with crispy bacon, mushrooms and Aegina peanuts), the pappardelle with salmon, Philadelphia cheese, finocchio and ouzo, the caramel shaped chicken breast (stuffed with haloumi cheese, spearmint, tomato confit and fresh thyme, wrapped with prosciutto from Karpenisi and served with aromatic basmati rice), the pork tenderloin with ginger, honey and lime (served with aromatic basmati rice) and the 100% Black Angus beef burger with fresh potato chips and homemade BBQ sauce.
Don’t miss the tantalizing handmade desserts, such as the chocolate pie with cookies and dried nuts and the banoffee truffles.
