The most important festival in Athens hosts excellent performances and creators, mainly in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus.
The Festival is organised every year at the beginning of June and the tickets’ sale begins in mid-May. It began in 1955, when Georgios Rallis was Minister of Interior Affairs in the Papagos' government and a decision was made to organise a high standards art festival in Athens. Since then, this festival is the most significant of the capital and many people come every year to attend unique performances as well as top artists.
Do not miss the opportunity to attend an ancient Greek tragedy. You may find details regarding the festival’s program and tickets' cashiers on the official website.
