The non-profit making foundation “Michael Cacoyannis” Foundation was created on the initiative of Michael Cacoyannis in late 2003 with the aim of running a cultural institution that would support and mainly disseminate the performing arts of theatre and cinema, the two arts which the director himself served with love and passion both in Greece and abroad for more than 50 years.
The cultural centre is housed in a building of 6,810 sq.m. on Piraeus Street and its premises include a cinema, a black box (for movies, plays, theatre and dance rehearsals, seminars, teachings, etc.), an exhibition area (equipped with a revolving projector and special projectors), a theatre (in amphitheatric arrangement for theatrical and musical events, conferences, etc.), a cafe-bar and the Clap restaurant.
On the ground floor of the building there is the shop of the Foundation where you will find art objects, books and jewellery.
