Kafeneion Acropoleos is a quality all day spot located in Apostolou Pavlou pedestrian street in the historical center of Athens. It stands out for its amazing view to the Ancient Agora, Lycabettus and of course the much photographed Acropolis and uses exclusively Greek products.
The famous cured meat products from Drama, salami and sausages from Evritania region, selected cheese varieties from Naxos, Syros, Crete and Metsovo are used to create dishes that “ooze” of Greece. In the morning you can order a hearty and filling breakfast, choosing among omelettes and fried eggs (with pastrami or kavourmas or soutzouki or turkey), as well as handmade homely pies, made by the owner’s mother, and of course Greek coffee served in a pot with a loukoumi. Fresh juices, yogurt and Greek rice pudding are some of the most prominent breakfast suggestions.
The lunch menu will bring to mind childhood memories, as it serves in its marble tables with the red chairs in the cobblestone street homemade food, such as veal in red sauce, pork with wine and lemon sauce, pastitsio, moussaka etc. The gourmants will definitely set it apart for its homemade meze –fava, spicy cheese spread, stuffed vine leaves etc.– as well as for the Acropolis platter (meatballs, cold cuts and cheese, groats etc.) which are ideally accompanied by Cretan raki or tsipouro from Macedonia. It also serves wines exclusively from Greek vineyards.
At night the scenery transforms and becomes more ambient with the help of neat cocktails. The highlights of the cocktail list are its signature suggestions made with Greek spirits, but it also includes some classic cocktails.
