Materia Prima
Materia Prima

Materia Prima is a new haunt in Koukaki which is appreciated by the community of loyal wine lovers for its extensive and selective wine list. The combination of its cozy environment with the impressive glass cellar and its cordial staff that is always eager to lead you through the wine trails, are enough to win over both amateur and long-time wine lovers.

Materia Prima is located a stone’s throw away from Sygrou-Fix metro station and right across the National Museum of Contemporary Art and welcomes you to choose from a list containing more than 50 wines served in a glass, which is updated on a weekly basis. It also serves some expensive wines using the innovative Coravin system (it allows the serving of wine without removing the cork from the bottle) and hosts special wine tastings based on the featured label’s variety, area of cultivation or wining method.

Don’t miss the opportunity to explore its unique glass cellar containing more than 500 labels and enjoy your selection of wine in its warm and cozy premises. You can buy a bottle at a reduced price to take it back to your house or offer it as a gift, since Materia Prima is also a wine shop selling labels from the Greek and the international vineyards, focusing on natural wines.

The list is constantly updated with fresh –or not– beers and premium alcohol extracts, while the side dishes that complement your order stand out for their imagination, wholesome taste, presentation and use of quality raw ingredients. The beef carpaccio with wild rocket and parmesan cheese, the quinoa with black lentil puree and chicken apaki (smoked), the slow cooked beef tagliata and the gravlax salmon with couscous and horse radish salad stand out from the menu.

If you want to take in the air of Koukaki neighbourhood (or smoke, since smoking is strictly forbidden in its premises) you can opt to sit on its little yard with its marble tables.

Materia Prima is the place to go if you want to lay back and relax after work, as well as for a night out with a jazz, blues, funk, soul and rock 'n' roll soundtrack playing in the background.
