Athens is a European capital city of 4,000,000 people, with a modern and useful network of transportation.

The public transport is all about the metro –which is very handy, it is one of Europe’s most impressive subways and is constantly expanding– tram, overground, bus, trolley buses and taxis.

Taxis in Athens are not prohibitive as far as their prices are concerned (for example a drive from Syntagma to Acropolis will cost you €4), so you can use them without any hesitation. From midnight and afterwards the “double tariff” is valid; this means that the charging will be almost double.

The intercity transportation is KTEL (Greek Buses) and overground train, while the airline and coastal transportation will provide you with great services to get outside of the city.
