Goulandris Natural History Museum was founded in 1965 by Angelos and Niki Goulandris in order to promote interest in Natural Sciences and is housed in an elegant building in Kifisia.
It is a model for the promotion of Natural Sciences and public awareness regarding the protection of endangered species. If you're fascinated by the world of plants and animals, you should pay a visit to this museum. The rooms contain Botanology, Entomology, Marine Biology, Geology, Herpetology, Ornithology and Paleontology exhibits. It's worth noting that the first exhibition halls of the Museum (plants biology) were designed by the British Natural History Museum.
The Museum has one of the best educational departments with very interesting activities and a gorgeous garden full of trees, bushes and a huge variety of plants. You may notice the towering Lebanese cedar in the center of the garden. Here you'll also find the Ammonites cafe and the Museum Cafe, where you can enjoy fresh beverages, coffee or cold dishes and snacks.
