Philopappou Hill

Philopappou Hill or the Hill of the Muses, is an ideal relaxing haven in the midst of nature, just a stone's throw from the buzzing centre of Athens.

Surrounded by neighbourhoods Koukaki, Petralona and Acropolis,Philopappou Hill is one the many places in Athens with an amazing view. It's connected with the National Observatory and the Pnyx and at the top stands the monument of Philopappou, which the hill was named after.

It's worth noting that within the framework of the unification of archaeological sites in 2002, an effort to fence the area began, so it could be visited at specific times on payment of an admission charge, but it was not enforced due to the residents' reaction.
