Ropa Lavada (meaning unwashed clothes in Spanish) is located on Solonos Street in the centre of Athens (5 minute walk from Panepistimio metro station) and has an eye-catching window display.
Christos and Katia, director and costume designer respectively, have managed to make this store stand out since it opened in 2003. The predominantly youthful clothing is aimed at people who are not afraid to "brandish" their style.
With stylish lines from the 20s and 50s, T-shirts with Barcelona street art graffiti, retro skirts and dresses as well as rubber soled shoes, it is certainly one of the most challenging shopping choices in Athens.
The clothing and accessories usually come from emerging, alternative Greek or (fewer) foreign designers and are available at reasonable prices. Most of the jewellery and handbags are handmade and hand painted.
