In a two-floor building made of stone, in the heart of Metaxourgeio, where a taverna used to be since 1933, you will find To Avgo tou Kokora, the legendary restaurant that first opened in Kypseli in 1982, and has since then welcomed all gourmands in Athens, famous or not.
The menu is full of traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes that will definitely make you a regular, as it happens with all those who try this restaurant once (from artists and politicians to journalists and businessmen). All dishes are prepared with pure Cretan products, and this is why they are renowned for their quality.
The rooster with handmade makarounes (traditional pasta), chicken fillet with feta cheese sauce, "barefoot" aubergine, handmade pie with fennel and stuffed courgette flowers, stand out on the menu and are ideally accompanied with white moshofilero house wine, red agiorgitiko wine or tsipouro from Epirus.
At the end of your meal you will be treated to dessert made with the famous mastiha from Chios, a traditional recipe from the island.
