In the picturesque alleyway of Isodeion Street, just beyond Mitropoleos Square and across from Ababa, is the Asteriou Technes art gallery. There you'll have the opportunity to admire and purchase any of the works of owner Dimitri Asteriou, also owner of Chania's most playful and delightful bar, Ababa.
Dimitri is an eccentric character (despite the serious first impression that he gives off), which is immediately understood in his works. In his personal showroom you'll see paintings, sculptures and constructions of experiential and conceptual art. All his works are based on his beloved art form, which is none other than Trash Art.
They say one man's trash is another man's treasure, and this will certainly ring true when you lay your eyes upon the space's painted items, or 'trash', like driftwood, steel sheets, and old window shutters, which are what make up the main raw materials of his inspired works.
