Bigaza
Bigaza

Bigaza tavern, famous for its 'politiki kouzina' (the cuisine that draws its roots from the Greeks of Asian Minor), has been operating since 1986 in the Galatas district 7 km outside the city center of Chania heading in the direction of Kasteli, and just 60 meters from the village square.

Mr. Makis (born in Constantinople) and his wife, Mrs. Sophia, create unforgettable dishes in the tavern's kitchen that will send you on a gastronomic and culinary journey. Amongst these is the chiounkiar begenti, the gioulbassi(pork with mushrooms, cream sauce and fried onions), the bigkaza (veal and vegetable wrap), lachmatzoun (a Greek style meat pizza), the patsaga (stuffed potato with vegetables), the bekri mezze (the drinker's mezze), hummus, the exli meatballs (meatballs with garlic yoghurt), and the bourekakia with pastourma and minced meat.

From the sweets on the menu, on a daily basis you can try ekmek with ice cream as well as the taouk kioktsou and baklava.
