Milia Mountain Retreat is a pioneering venture in the field of rural tourism in a forgotten corner of the Chania prefecture. In the 1990s, the authentic mountain village of Milia was converted into an eco-tourism resort, set among chestnut trees and rocks, based on a "back to basics" philosophy.
You will have the opportunity to stay in one of the rustic village houses here, some of which have a piece of rock for a wall. The standard double covers all the basic needs, the large doubles have a fireplace and can be converted into triples, the spacious suites have a lovely sitting room and a big yard, while the family rooms can accommodate up to 4 people. Each has hot water, warm blankets, ecological orthopedic mattresses, heating in winter, a yard or balcony and hammocks and sun loungers for summer.
Your day starts with a rich buffet breakfast with jams, local honey, bread, graviera cheese, fruit, sweets and plenty of seasonal produce. Traditional Cretan cuisine, verging on gourmet, is served in the restaurant and exclusively supports fresh, quality locally produced products and Cretan culinary culture. Most of the cooking is done is pans in a wood fired oven or grilled on charcoal.
