O Platanos tis Splantzias

O Platanos tis Splantzias tavern in 1821 Square, directly opposite the perennial old tree plane (from which it owes its name), is the oldest tavern in the square. It has been running for 30 years.

Open from morning, it serves coffee under the welcome shade of the tree and at lunch time you can enjoy raki along with tasty Cretan and Asian mezze. The sweet and sour chicken with vegetables, apaki (pork) with sage and the fried snails with rosemary are just a few of the delicious options on offer.
