Description

Stivanadika

On Skridlof Street in the heart of the Old Town, you will get a feeling of being in an authentic bazaar. The pedestrian street west of the Municipal Market, known as Stivanadika, is full of shops selling leathers, folk art and memorabilia.

The neighborhood owes its name to the fact that in the past it housed only the wokshops of the traditional stivani shoemakers -Cretan, leather boots which are a basic component in the local men's costume. Today, few have remained, drawing countless people rushing to purchase souvenirs of their stay in this beautiful town on Crete.
