You will have the opportunity to visit one of the most famous attractions in Chania, the Venizeloi Tombs, located on the Prophitis Ilias hill, 5 km from the center of town. The location enjoys stunning views of the town and the Old Port.
The graves of Eleftherios and Sofokles Venizelos lay opposite each other here in a green setting. The area is configured with pebble stones, benches and terraces, paths and gardens and is the ideal choice for a relaxing stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
The church of Prophitis Ilias, with its Venetian character, was built in area in the early 16th century. You can see the statue of Spyros Kagialedakis here, who raised the Greek flag during the Akrotiri revolution of 1897 leaving behind the fire coming from the ships of the Great Powers.
