Chania is the capital of Crete's westernmost prefecture and is located in its north west part. It is built on the ruins of ancient Kidonia.

The Old Town of Chania, one of the most beautiful towns in Greece, is often referred to as the "Venice of the East" and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in all of Europe. Walk through the quaint back streets and discover the aura and mystery hidden behind the Venetian buildings. Take a stroll along the busy streets and be dazzled by their charm and beauty. Splantzia, Hatzimihali Daliani Street and Mitropoleos square are reference points. The most renowned beaches include Balos, Elafonisi, Falasarna and Seitan Limania. Samaria gorge, Aradaina, the Botanical Park, Frangokastelo and Gavdos islet are among the most popular attractions.
