Afytos or Athytos boasts a unique location in the Kassandra peninsula, as it is buit on an imposing, yet spectacular rock. The main characteristics of the village are its two-storeyed houses in the typical architectural style of Macedonia, as well as the taverns and cafes built on the edge of the rock and offering breathtaking views.
A stroll around the village with the cobbled alleys, the fountains, the typical stone buildings and the churches will fill your eyes with beautiful sights. Do not forget to visit the traditional, fully renovated mansion of Katsani, the houses of the painter Paralis and of the musician Mandakas, the domed basilica of Agios Demetrios, dating back to 1858, the Aletra building, which houses the Folklore Museum, as well as the prehistoric ramparts and the ruins of an ancient wall.
For a refreshing swim, opt for the white sandy seashore, stretching along 4 kilometres at the foot of the rock. The beach is fully equipped and features several beach bars. For privacy, look for the secluded cove, accessible after crossing the main beach.
