The most cosmopolitan town in the peninsula of Sithonia is Neos Marmaras, situated in the middle of the western part of the second "leg" of Halkidiki. Full of modern hotels, lovely rooms for rent, restaurants and taverns, as well as elegant bars, it offers top-notch services and state-of-the-art amenities.
Amphitheatrically built, Neos Maramaras was founded by Greek refuges from Asia Minor in 1922. It features a picturesque little harbour with typical fishing boats and four successive bays, where you will find traditional fish taverns, shops and open-air bars.
The beach of Neos Marmaras, very close to the town, is called Paradissos and features a sandy seashore with beach bars, hotels and rooms for rent.
During your stay, it is worth visiting the domain (metochi) of the Gregoriou Monastery, the church Koimiseos tis Theotokou, the small island of Kelyfos and a replica of a Santala ship at the harbour.
