Agia Pelagia, 23km from the centre of Heraklion, in the west part of the municipality, is one of the most famous coasts in this popular destination. It is a tourist resort with many facilities, a wide range of options regarding accommodation, food, entertainment and shopping along the beaches on the peninsula.
At the central Agia Pelagia beach with the coarse sand and the crystal clear waters there are beach bars, beach umbrellas and chaise longues. In the north part of the beach you will come across Evresis cave, where an icon of Saint Pelagia was found many years ago.
Fylakes beach –small bays with golden sand and turquoise waters– and Vlychada beach –with fine pebbles– accessible by the sea only from Agia Pelagia, are also found in the wider area.
