In a purely traditional restaurant, with decoration to match, Erganos taverna (very close to Nikos Kazantzakis park) has been welcoming locals as well as visitors since 1986 to reveal the secrets of authentic Cretan and Mediterranean cuisine.

With respect to tradition and a preference for local ingredients, various dishes are created with unique combinations of flavours, representing Cretan cuisine in the best way.

Dolmadakia (stuffed vine leaves), wild green pies, mizythra cheese pies, tsitsiristo (pork with various herbs), gardoubakia in egg-lemon sauce (lamb belly with intestines, onion and dill), apaki (smoked pork), sausage, lamb ofto (in wood-fired oven), goat in tomato sauce, traditional pasta with anthotyro cheese, stewed zygouri (older lamb), etc., are some of the most traditional flavours on the island.
