Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts

Heraklion Museum of Visual Arts, in the centre of Heraklion, opened in May 2000, and was created by K. Schizakis in order to be a point of reference for artists as well as for art overs in the city.

In this private, non-profitable museum, you will see works by Cretan artists mostly, but also by artists who lived on the island or were students of Cretan teachers. The collection features works from the 30s onward, while about 55 artists have taken part with works about still life, woman, topographies, nature, humour, etc.

Training and educational seminars, lectures on artistic creations, conferences, concerts, etc., also take place in the museum.
