Lamb Ofto

Ofto lamb is one of the traditional dishes of Crete which can be served at a formal dinner.

Ingredients
1 kilo of lamb
3 medium sized onions
5 medium sized potatoes
cinnamon sticks
bay leaf
3 spoons of oil
5 spoons of fresh lemon
salt
pepper
water
thyme
oregano
Instructions
Place a layer of potatoes cut in half on the bottom of a ceramic pot. Add a layer of onion rings above, about half the meat, a cinnamon stick, oregano, salt, pepper, bay leaf, half a lemon juice and olive oil. Repeat. Then add 2 cups of water and close the pot. Bake in the oven for 4-5 hours. Depending on how lemony you like it, add more lemon and spices for more flavor.
