Mononaftis

Mononaftis is a pebbled beach, just 1km from Agia Pelagia (at the northernmost part of the peninsula), 27km from Heraklion city centre.

It is said that is is named after a shipwreck in the area, with only one sailor surviving (mononaftis meaning one sailor), while in essence Mononaftis is a big rock in the sea, 50m from the coast.

The turquoise, crystal clear waters are ideal for swimming. You will also find beach umbrellas and chaise longues, water sports facilities and beach bars.
