Sofokli Venizelou coastal avenue starts west of Koule and it is an ideal choice for a long walk by the sea. The pedestrian street above the sea wall is perfect for hiking any time of the day. Going west, on your left hand side you will see various tavernas, cafes and bars overlooking the sea.
The Agios Petros and Pavlos church, the Historical Museum square with the Historical Museum of Crete and the Museum of Natural History will definitely draw your attention.
East of Koule, you will see the Venetian Neoria, elongated, arched, covered spaces that were used for building and repairing the ships of the Venetian fleet. They were built in 4 stages, while there were 19 in total originally even though today only 5-6 can still be seen.
