Citizens of the European Union (as well as citizens from Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein) traveling to Hydra enjoy the right to free public health care on production of the European Health Insurance Card. Otherwise, any care needed, apart from emergency hospital visits, has to be paid for.

If you are traveling to Hydra from countries outside the Euro zone and have run out of local currency, make sure you exchange your currency into Euros beforehand as there are no currency exchange services on Hydra.

Tipping

A service charge is included in restaurant bills when you dine and bar bills for drinks. However, it is customary to leave a 10% tip on the total of the bill, if you are happy with the overall experience.
