Drogarati Cave
Drogarati Cave

Near the village Haliotata, 3 kilometers from Sami and at an altitude of 120 meters, you will find one of the most important and beautiful natural sights of the island. With depths reaching 60 m below the earth's surface, a temperature of 18 ° C and a very large and impressive central cavern (65x45 wide and approximately 20 m high), Drogarati Cave is considered one of the most remarkable in Greece.

The cave was discovered roughly 300 years ago when, because of a strong earthquake, a section of it fell away and created the current entrance. According to archaeologists, it is over 100 million years old and suspected to connect to other caves in the area.

The unearthly golden color of the interior from artificial lights and the thousands of years old stalagmites and stalactites create a unique spectacle for visitors
