Situated on the beach on the northern end of the island, 50 km from Argostoli, Fiskardo is the most cosmopolitan and amongst the most beautiful villages of Kefalonia. This is one of the few places left intact by the earthquake of 1953 and so it fully retains its original style. The home of poet of the sea, Nikos Kavvadias, is a stone’s throw from Ithaca and draws in famous and non-famous guests arriving from every corner of the earth.
An incredible variety of colours engulfs the picturesque port where you can arrive on foot, leaving the car in the municipal parking lot. Mansions in pastel colours, ornate balconies festooned with bougainvillea, streets in full bloom, tasteful little shops and dozens of elegant yachts swaying in front of the favourite restaurants of VIPs, along with the greenery and the deep blue sea, are a constant feast for the eyes.
