Kefalonian Feta

One of the most famous products of the island is its white barrel cheese (feta). It may not be a Product of Designated Origin, but is an excellent and much sought-after cheese product. In fact, the local cheese makers brag that they were the ones who spread the art of manufacturing feta to all of Greece.

Made from sheep and goat milk, it can be soft or hard, and has a rich butter flavour, due to aging in barrel.
