Since Kefalonia is the largest island of the Ionian Sea, it is necessary to use a means of transport to get around. If you do not wish to rent a car or other vehicle, there are the following options:
1) Buses: Buses from the local KTEL network link the capital with the rest of the villages and settlements of the island. Starting from Argostoli Central station there are daily services to Sami, Skala, Poros, Argostoli, Agia Efimia, and Fiskardo. During the summer months extra routes are laid on to the better serve visitors.
2) Taxis: In Kefalonia it’s not hard to find taxi ranks in the main squares of Argostoli, Lixouri and in all tourist areas, with which you can travel to any point of the island you wish.
