Description

Platani

The Turkish district of Kos, also known as Platani or Kermentes, is located 6km from the centre of the capital, shortly before the archaeological site of Asklipieios. Platani is a small village inhabited mainly by Muslims of Kos and is famous for its taverns serving delicious Anatolian delicacies.

A couple of these are restaurants Arap and Ali, where you'll no doubt try the famous kebab with yoghurt and red sauce ('Giaourtlou') and kebabs. Platani, however, is also famous for something else; the traditional tomato spoon sweets ('glyko domataki') prepared in the traditional way by the village's women.
