From Thessaloniki Lefkada is 403 km and in approximately 5 hours through Egnatia highway until Ioannina and then through the Aktio–Preveza undersea tunnel you arrive at your destination.
Alternatively, there is the bus, which runs daily from the station of Kifissos in Athens (100 Kifissos Avenue, +30 210 5150108, www.ktel-lefkadas.gr) and from that of Thessaloniki (tel. +30 2310 595412).
By air: The island is connected by air with Athens through Aktion Airport (https://www.pvk-airport.gr) in Preveza, located 17 km from the island (timetables are mostly during the summer season). In addition, charter flights land from various European countries.
