At the southern part of Messinia, across from Methoni you will come across the Messinian Oinousses, a cluster of small islands and islets with Sapientza and Schiza the most famous islands.
During summer, boats depart from Methoni on a daily basis to take you to and from Sapientza. The island is known for its unique strawberry tree forest that has been declared a protected monument and is home to the Kri Kri goat, wild sheep and a wide variety of birds.
At the southern part of the island you will come across a lighthouse that was built in 1885, which has a height of 8 m and a focal height of 110 m. Today it is powered by photovoltaic systems. At the north, you will find Ammos beach (opposite Methoni) where you can enjoy your summer dips.
