Legend says that Leto fled here to escape the wrath of Hera and give birth to Apollo and Artemis. It is considered one of the brightest parts in the world and was one of the first advocates of multiculturalism.
Delos, the most important religious centre of antiquity, is approximately 20 minutes from Mykonos. It is the largest "open-air museum in Greece" and is listed by UNESCO as a place of outstanding universal value.

- To reach Delos, catch one of the boats that depart at 09.00, 10.00, 11.30 and 17.00 at Gialos and return at 12.10, 13.30, 15.00 and 19.30 (except Monday the schedules that are valid are only those of 10.00 & 17.00 with return at 13.30 & 19.30). A return ticket costs €20.
