The first and only Komboloi (Worry bead) Museum in the world opened in 1998 on Staikopoulou Street in the heart of the Old Town of Nafplio. It's aim is to preserve and disseminate the traditional Greek worry beads.
It is the private initiative of the Evangelinos couple, who have been collecting and researching worry beads since 1958. The worry beads on display in the museum date from 1550-1950 and come from all over the world.
In its rare collection you will find Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Catholic and Greek worry beads, made from natural amber, mastic amber, faturan amber, black and red coral, bone and other materials.
Here you will also find unique handmade jewellery made of amber and semi-precious stones.
