Nea Tiryns

A trip that is really worth making is to Nea Tiryns, just 5 Km from the center of Nafplio. Its original name was Kofini and changed to Nea Tiryns in 1953.

The most famous attraction here is the Acropolis of Tiryns, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Acropolis, which is of great archaeological interest, was built on a rocky hill 300 meters long, 100 meters wide and 26 meters in height along the Nafplio-Argos National Road and its size impresses people even today.

Very close, about 1 Km away, a vaulted tomb was discovered in 1913 at the foot of Profitis Ilias, the entrance to which was decorated in spirals.
