Naxos Festival

Innovative art exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances, as well as periodic exhibitions are presented each summer (June-September) at the Naxos Festival, which is the most important cultural event on the island. The events are mainly hosted in the famous Bazeos Tower; a great monument of the 1600s which dominates the Agiassos plain, 12km from Chora.

The festival began in the summer of 2001 in order to promote and maintain this separate tower outside Sagkri and enhance the social and cultural life on the island. Organised by the Cultural Organisation "AION", in collaboration with various organisations, institutes and museums, including the Benaki Museum, the Naxos Festival presents fresh approaches to culture each and every year.
