Moutsouna, located 37 km from Chora, is the largest settlement on the east coast of Naxos and also the natural port which was formerly used as the point of transfer of emery. A winding, downhill paved road will take you from Apeiranthos to the picturesque seaside settlement, which is home to a few fish tavernas next to a quiet beach.

Some of the important attractions here include the old cable railway station facilities, which, until the 1970s, transported emery from the mining galleries up the ladder loading at the port of Moutsouna.

Commencing at Moutsouna, you can discover the eastern and south-eastern coast of Naxos and the mountainous interior of the island.
