Psili Ammos
Psili Ammos

In the southwestern part of the island and 20 km away from Chora, you will find the family tavern Psili Ammos at Pyrgaki village, a stone’s throw from the eponymous sandy beach, which has been operating since 1992. Today, the second generation of owners is in charge, with Mr. Nikos Moustakis welcoming you to its cosy environment.

In the kitchen, Mrs. Liani, the owner’s mother, prepares on a daily basis dishes of traditional Greek cuisine with selected raw ingredients of their own production –everything from vegetables and dairy products (kefalotiri cheese, xinomyzithra, anthotiro cheese, sour cheese) to meat (lamb, rabbits, pigs).

The dishes that stand out in its menu include the feta cheese in phyllo with mixed peppers and sage-scented honey, the "kalogiros" (meaning 'monk', a traditional dish from Naxos with eggplant stuffed with braised beef and various cheeses from Naxos), the lamb in parchment paper with various cheeses and peppers and the oven potatoes with olive oil, garlic and rosemary.
