At a distance of 12 km from Naxos’ Chora, the imposing Bazeos Tower dominates the plain of Agiassos. Built around 1600, it exemplifies a uniquely restored tower. Originally, it functioned as a Monastery of the Holy Cross until the early 19th century. Since 2000, when the first phase of its restoration was completed, it has been used as a cultural centre.
It is a unique space-monument of great value and importance that is worth-visiting, either for the events of the famous Naxos Festival (June-September) or to attend the excellent exhibitions of Greek and foreign artists organized and hosted there every summer.
