The tiny island of Antiparos can be reached within approximately ten minutes from the harbour of Pounda (8.5 km south of Parikia) and is ideal for a day or even a night (for many people) trip.
The main street of Chora, filled on both sides with sophisticated all-day spots and concept shops selling souvenirs, welcomes you to the island giving you the feeling that time has stopped somewhere in the 60s. With highly Cycladic breeze, it will lead you to Kastro (Castle), where during the day you can take a walk in the picturesque alleys and during the night you can find bustling bars for entertainment until dawn.
Those of you looking for refreshing moments, head to the beaches of the island with the turquoise waters. Soros and Agios Georgios beaches stand out among them. The latter, in fact, is the second largest village of Antiparos at the most southern part of the island. Despotiko island, located opposite Antiparos, is worth visiting (ferries depart from the small harbour of the village) to enjoy a swim in its famous beach.
Do not leave Antiparos, unless you visit the famous Katafygi cave, one of the most important and most beautiful ones not only in Greece, but in the whole world.
So, Antiparos, a 100% Cycladic island, has "gone up" a lot during the last years. However, this does not mean that its personality has been altered. It has managed to maintain its bohemian character and stand out on the people’s choices just for this reason. In the end, one day may not be enough.
