The origins of the Fish Festival date back to the early 70s. This event was taking place on the first Sunday of July by local fishermen in Mandraki, the small harbour of Naoussa. The purpose of its creation was to attract tourist, so throughout the event the fishermen fried their fish and offered them accompanied by local souma to the people.
Over the years and with the creation of the big harbour of Naoussa, this tradition was transferred there attracting even more people. The festival for about 10-15 years was organised by the fishermen, while afterwards the Community of Naoussa and today the Municipality of Paros took over the organisation.
