The bay of Grikos, one of the island's and the country’s most beautiful, is located in the southeastern part of Patmos and at a distance of 4.5 km. from Skala. At this point there is a touristically developed coastal village, which is a favorite choice for accommodation for many patrons of the island.
At Grikos two of the most famous and luxurious hotels on the island operate (the Patmos Aktis and Petra Suites), while there is no shortage of quality dining options, which mainly serve dishes from Greek cuisine.
Its beach is the largest of the island and, apart from being serviced in several points with umbrellas and sun beds, you will find several places to spread out your towel down by the cooling shade offered by the trees. Wherever you sit, you’ll get a view of the impressive rock of Petra (or Kalikatsou, as it is also known).
Just opposite is the island of Tragonisi, where only shepherds live with their goats, which protects the bay of Grikos from winds. It really is worth a visit with a boat departing from the small marina of the settlement to enjoy a swim.
