Citizens of the European Union (including Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) traveling to Patmos have the right to free public health care, when bearing with them a European Health Insurance Card. Otherwise, you must pay for any care needed, except for emergency room visits.

Smoking prohibition in public buildings was implemented by law and passed in 2000, followed by tighter restrictions in 2008, which came into effect in on 1 July 2009.

Tipping

A service charge is included in restaurant bills when you dine and bar bills for drinks. However, it is customary to leave a 10% tip on the total of the bill, if you are happy with the overall experience.
