A point of reference for the whole of Magnesia, the Little Train of Pelion, the legendary Moutzouris as it is widely known, is one of the best experiences all visitors should have at least once.
Nowadays, it is mainly used by tourists. However, it has been around for more than one century and it was originally created to connect the commercial and industrial centre of Volos with the rich area of west Pelion. Its first journey was in 1903, while the last one was in June 1971.
After a 25-year break, the little train is here again to offer unforgettable moments to the visitors of the mountain of the Centaurs. It is now used purely for touristic purposes and it goes from Ano Lechonia to Milies, a 16-kilometre journey that takes about 1,5 hrs, stopping at Gatzea, Pinakates and Argyreika. At the terminal station in Milies you can take the charming path to the village.
The journey is truly magical, with different images unfolding before your eyes, such as the coastal zone of Pelion, the 11 big and small bridges and the lushly green mountain sides. One of the most impressive moments is passing under the five-arch bridge of Halorema which is 23 metres high.
Get on board the traditional Moutzouris for the ultimate experience.
