Makrinitsa, one of the most traditional and picturesque villages in Magnesia, is also known as "the balcony of Pelion". It is located in the western part of the mountain of the Centaurs, past Portaria, about 11km from Volos.

It is certain that it will make it to the top of your list regarding places you have visited in Pelion. The traditional buildings of local architectural, the cobbled streets, picturesque atmosphere and last but not least the unobstructed view of Volos and the Pagasitikos gulf are some of its main characteristics.

The main paved square where you will see the drinking fountain with running water and the chapel of Agios Ioannis Prodromos, are a point of reference for the whole village. From there you will have the chance to enjoy the unobstructed view of Volos and the Pagasitikos gulf, have a cup of coffee at one of the traditional coffee houses under the perennial plane trees but also taste local delicacies in one of the tavernas.

Don't forget to visit the Museum of Folk art and History, housed in the Topali mansion which dates back to 1844, and which has been listed as a historical monument by the Ministry of Culture in 1985.
