Vizitsa is a traditional village in central Pelion, 28km from Volos. It has been declared as a protected area since 1980 with a presidential decree.
It is located between Milies and Pinakates at an altitude of 450m. The buildings of local traditional architecture are characteristic. The history of Vizitsa takes us back to the 16th century, when the wealthy Greeks coming from Egypt chose this place to make it their new home.
Apart from the paved square with the perennial plane trees and the traditional coffee houses, the wonderful mansions and the cobbled streets, don't forget to visit the church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos built in 1789 with the superb murals, as well as the church of Zoodochos Pigi dating back to 1725.
The village is famous for the tsipouro and wine produced there, so make sure you have bought some of these local products to take home before you leave..
